My name is Clodagh O' Herlihy and I work as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist.
Happiness in love, relationship and work is ultimately what we strive for. We do the best we can with our resources and beliefs however sometimes life gets in the way. We can't necessarily change life circumstances. What we can change is how we manage our emotions, thoughts and behaviors.
Given that each of us has an innate source of intuition, my first purpose as a therapist is to listen for the client's strengths , voice and intuition. The relationship between the client and I , is the backbone of the work that we do. When a client feels truly heard, seen and safe then can they begin to explore the emotions, thoughts and behaviors that get in the way of accessing this unlimited intuition.
My work approach is integrative so as to better meet clients where they are at. We all process our thoughts and feelings very differently. Some of us are more comfortable processing emotions mentally first before feeling more intensely, others process feelings first and thoughts later, and others take their time and feel more through their body. It is important for me as a therapist to be able to work in a way that is most comfortable to the client.
I aim to listen, empathize, explore, reflect, guide, sometimes nudge and give feedback with permission. The pace of this work really helps to bring a further sense of safety as the work deepens. It's my job to regularly check to see if the client feels safe, and grounded enough to be present with this work.
My eclectic array of techniques can support a variety of clientele. These different techniques such as Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Energy Psychology, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Hypnotherapy and many others.
I invite clients that are willing and committed to doing their personal growth work. It is truly is a gift to be able to witness clients becoming more aware, deepening into their edges and opening to the possibility of a clearer connection to their innate intuition and wisdom.
"Trusting your gut. Using your 6th Sense. Having a hunch. These are all ways of describing your built-in intuition or guidance system. We all have it. In fact, your gut makes more neuro- chemicals than your brain. Simply desiring to develop your intuition – or regain it is
a good start." –Dr Christiane Northrup, MD.
