After spending half of my life in Ireland, and the other half on the west coast ( California and Oregon) I recently moved to Raleigh to be near some of my mentors in Chapel hill and friends
and family in the triangle area. I am loving the extensive access to beautiful parks, mountains and beaches nearby.

In terms of education, I have a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from CIIS (California Institute of Integral Studies)
I am a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist by the National Board of Hypnotherapists. I have a Master's Certification in Intuition Medicine from the Academy of Intuition Medicine ® , Mill Valley, California.

I have worked for approximately seventeen years as a therapist. During this time, I  have worked with adults, children, couples and families. Currently I work with adults, both individuals and couples.

The following are some descriptions of the modalities that I am influenced by;

 Emotionally Focused Therapy  is an evidence based therapy and one of the most successful forms of couples therapy worldwide. It is also used in individual therapy. It focuses on emotion as the primary agent of change. It helps couples and individuals  move from anger, withdrawal, and criticism into expressing needs such as emotional safety, closeness and validation. The core goal is to create
more secure bonds between partners.

Internal Family Systems IFS ( Parts work) is an evidence-based, non-pathologizing therapeutic approach. It views the mind as a whole system which is made up of different parts, each with its own feelings, roles and protective strategies. A client might have a vulnerable or wounded part that feels alone and unloved, the work involves helping the client access enough curiosity, compassion, and wisdom while healing these wounded protective parts.

Mindfulness plays a central role in Dialectical behavioral therapy, Cognitive therapy, Hypnotherapy and Energy Psychology.  This process invites the mind to focus on the breath, body sensations, or guided visualizations resulting in calm clarity and compassion. This experience often provides a deeper access to intuition and wisdom allowing for change  and transformation to occur.

Gestalt Therapy  is an experiential approach that focuses on increasing the awareness of thoughts, feelings and behaviors in the present moment. It allows the client to develop a deeper awareness of the " here and now." It helps clients to integrate fragmented parts of themselves to become more whole and authentic.

Transactional Analysis (TA) is a psychodynamic and relational model. It suggests that we operate from three ego states- Parent, Adult and Child and that conflict arises when these ego states interact in unhelpful ways. The work helps people become more awareof these ego patterns so that they can respond from a more grounded, present and focused Adult state.

Energy Psychology explores the relationship between the body, mind and spirit or attitude. It explores how thoughts, feelings, bodily functions, sensations, and energetic patterns can influence well being.

Emotional Freedom Technique -EFT  often known as  "Tapping"is an evidence -based technique that combines elements of cognitive therapy with acupressure. It involves focusing on specific emotional issues while tapping on designated meridian points. The processaims to reduce emotional distress by calming the nervous system and reframing negative beliefs.

Cognitive therapy is a structured present-focused form of psychotherapy that helps clients identify and change unhelpful thought patterns. It is based on the belief that negative thinking contributes to psychological distress and
changing these thoughts can improve mood and functioning. Clients learn practical skills to challenge automatic beliefs
and develop more balanced thinking.

Psychodynamic Therapy is a way to explore a person's underlining unconscious patterns that often repeat in their every day life. This pattern could come from an old familiar pattern of relating to a parent, teacher, relative or caregiver and it keeps making the same pattern in current time. By Increasing the awareness of these patterns often within the therapeutic relationship, clients can experience lasting emotional and relational change.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy. combines cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness awareness techniques to support emotional
challenges and acceptance. It is a structured skills based therapy that helps clients to reduce self destructive behaviors and regulate intense emotions. Clients learn skills in four main areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.
